THE LOVE OF GARDENING IS A SEED ONCE SOWN THAT NEVER DIES. GERTRUDE JEKYLL

The Horticulture Club introduces students to gardening and landscaping.  Students will learn how to grow plants from seeds and maintain and care for seedlings as well as split and transplant mature plants. Plants are grown in soil and hydroponic conditions. It is an opportunity for students to demonstrate life science knowledge in a practical manner.

Objectives:

  • Plant seeds and grow and maintain mature plants
  • Grow fruits and vegetable which may be consumed
  • Increase the aesthetics of the campus by germinating flower seeds (perennials and annuals) and transplanting flowering plants in designated areas on school property 
  • Grow and maintain plant cultures that can be used for instructional purposes such as tobacco plants that can be genetically engineered
  • Learn practical skills
