School Profile


Becton Regional High School is located in Bergen County in northern NJ. Students come from East Rutherford, Carlstadt and most recently Maywood. The ethnically diverse community is located 8 miles west of NYC and is comprised of single and two family homes, apartments and condominiums. The community population encompasses people from all walks of life, including business leaders, doctors, industrial workers, tradesmen and attorneys. Rich in citizen involvement, the district is well aware of the value of Education.


Becton Regional High School, which is accredited by the New Jersey Department of Education, offers a four year comprehensive college preparatory program. There are approximately 580 students in grades 9-12. The school offers a variety of subjects to prepare students who plan to continue their education beyond high school and for those students who may seek employment directly upon completing high school


The Becton curriculum includes college preparatory studies as well as courses in the fine, practical and performing arts. Our program of studies is designed to serve the interests and needs of all students. Becton currently has a four-day rotating schedule. Students are scheduled for eight courses, six of which meet daily. To receive a diploma, the class of 2021 must earn a minimum of 140 credits. Honors and AP courses are offered in English, social studies, mathematics, sciences, computers and world languages. Students benefit from the opportunity to take   dual enrollment courses through Bergen Community College and St. Thomas Aquinas College for potential college credit. Becton also offers students an opportunity for a true college experience with BCC Prep. Students attend their high school classes in the morning and attend Bergen Community College in the afternoon. Students also have an opportunity to take VHS (Virtual High School) courses during their time at Becton. VHS offers an array of over 300 courses.

  • Final grade in each subject is multiplied by the number of credits assigned to the course resulting in the accumulated grade points
  • Accelerated courses are computed as above with an additional point for each course credit
  • This grade is them multiplied by 1.07 for a 5- credit class and 1.08 for a 6-credit class
    (i.e. 5 credit class, 90 + 5 X 1.07=101.65)
  • Accumulated grade points are totaled and divided by the number of credits attempted, giving the GPA


  • SAT/ACT scores are not reported on the transcript
  • All results are sent directly to the college from College Board or ACT
  • This is the sole responsibility of the student
