BOARD DISTRICT GOALS 2025-2026
The Carlstadt-East Rutherford Regional High School District will continue its remarkable trajectory of growth and innovation in 2025-2026. These goals reflect our comprehensive commitment to academic excellence, student well-being, robust programs, and strategic campus development.
1. Academic Excellence & Innovation
The C-ER Becton Regional HS District remains committed to providing cutting-edge academic opportunities that prepare students for success in college, career, and beyond. This year, the district will expand its STEM curriculum by officially launching its Engineering Program and by creating a dedicated robotics room to enhance hands-on learning. The continued integration of intelligent learning tools, such as KhanMigo by Khan Academy, will help personalize instruction and accelerate student growth. To further strengthen college readiness, expanded SAT preparation and personalize college essay offerings will provide students with the skills and confidence to excel in post-secondary opportunities.
2. Student Services & Special Education
The C-ER Becton Regional HS District will strengthen its continuum of support services, ensuring that all students receive the resources necessary to thrive. A major focus will be the development of a new transition program for students aged 18–21 by strengthening our current 9th-12th grade program. The 2025–2026 school year will serve as a planning and design year, during which district leaders, staff, and community partners will build the infrastructure, curriculum, and support needed to launch the program successfully. Once implemented, our 18-21 year old program will expand in-house special education services and provide young adults with vital opportunities for career readiness, independent living skills, and community integration.
3. Operations, Staffing & Campus Development
The C-ER Becton Regional HS District’s Becton will pursue strategic, cost-effective improvements to ensure facilities match the excellence happening inside them. From transforming outdated bathrooms at a fraction of typical renovation costs to upgrading classrooms and labs, and continuing to review funding solutions for our auxiliary building, every project will reflect Wildcat pride and fiscal responsibility. The Board will also remain committed to recruiting and retaining a “Dream Team” of educators, even in the face of a national teacher shortage, pairing transformative new hires with long-term retention of outstanding staff. The Board is committed to officially signing a new 3 year successor agreement, after Association ratification, which will focus on fairness, sustainability, and long-term stability to support both staff and students.
4. Health & Wellness
The C-ER Becton Regional HS District will continue to embrace a whole-child approach to student growth, recognizing that health and wellness are inseparable from academic success. The From Scratch Lunch Initiative will officially launch, offering freshly prepared, nutritious meals that are minimally processed and are free of seed oils, artificial flavorings, and food dyes cooked right here at Becton. This year will also bring a major expansion of comprehensive mental health services, including digital wellness screeners, psychiatric and therapeutic evaluations, medication management, and care navigation for families. Staff will benefit from professional development opportunities to strengthen their comfort with mental health awareness and intervention strategies. Timely school clearance, IEP, and psychiatric evaluations will help safeguard student safety and promote early identification and support.
5. Public Education Advocacy for Transparency, Equity & Opportunity
The C-ER Becton Regional HS District will continue to serve as a strong voice for equity, fairness, and opportunity in education. The district will advocate for transparency in state accountability systems, including the accurate reporting of student data and attribution. It will raise awareness of the inequities caused by current Career and Technical Education (CTE) structures while pushing for reforms that restore true vocational purpose and fair access to pathways for all students. The district will also promote more inclusive graduation metrics that accurately reflect the achievements of students with disabilities. Through research-based communication, stakeholder engagement, and policy outreach, the Board will work to protect the integrity of public education and elevate the value of comprehensive local schools.
6. Global & Creative Programs
The C-ER Becton Regional HS District’s Becton’s vibrant global and creative initiatives will continue to flourish, providing students with opportunities to explore the world and showcase their talents. World Languages students will embark on Europe 2026: Italy & Spain, an immersive international travel experience that deepens cultural understanding. On campus, the arts will expand with the installation of a new kiln for ceramics and the introduction of new music courses, including Guitar, Piano, and American Pop Music. Meanwhile, the Marching Band and award-winning theater program will continue to grow, setting the standard for creativity and student expression.
