December's Letter from Superintendent


Dear Parents/Guardians and Community Members:

Holiday Greetings!  Thankfully, the weather is still unseasonably warm for this time of year; however, I need to remind everyone that all school emergency dismissals and delayed openings will be announced through a reverse 911 call to your home and cell phones.  It will also be posted on our website and announced on our twitter account.

The winter sports season is upon us. Good luck to our Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball, Wrestling, and Bowling teams. Our student athletes love the support that they receive from our fans. Please make time to come out and cheer our teams on to victory.

During the month of December, our students are very active with various acts of community service. Our Girls Helping Girls Club members are hosting a “Giving Tree Holiday Fundraiser”.  All unwrapped toys, mittens, scarves, socks, etc. that you would like to donate can be brought to the high school main office until December 14, 2017.  Donations will benefit low-income families throughout Bergen County via Bergen Community Action, Inc. In addition, the club is selling “Come Sit with Us” T-shirts as a reminder to “include” others.  All profits will be donated to Mallory’s Army Organization.

The Multicultural Club will be selling hot chocolate in front of the James Williams Performing Arts Center on November 28, December 8, 20, 2017 and January 3, 16, and 26, 2018. Funds raised will benefit a needy family from our school community.

The members of the Key Club will be bringing gifts and fun to over 1,000 underprivileged children from local communities at the Meadowlands Exhibition Center in Secaucus, New Jersey during the month of December. The children, as well as the students, look forward to this annual event.

The annual Blood Drive will be held on December 13, 2017 in the high school gymnasium. Blood supplies run low during the holiday season and so we are hoping to receive as many blood donations as we have in the past. A gift of blood is a gift of life.

The Winter Concert will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 7:00 pm in the James Williams Performing Arts Center. Join us for an evening of holiday music performed by the Becton Regional High School concert band.

In closing, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season as well as a healthy and happy New Year.
