March's Letter from Superintendent
Dear Parents/Guardians and Community Members:
It is said that March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb and nothing can be truer. However, I assure you that spring is just around the corner.
I am very pleased to announce that the New Jersey Department of Education is recognizing the Carlstadt-East Rutherford School District, Henry P. Becton Regional High School as a model high school (see CEV-NJ Dept. of Ed. recognizes BRHS as ‘model high school’ ) based on our recent academic success and career-focused programs which has resulted in an increase in our graduation rate. The rate has increased by more than 13 percentage points over the past 4 years due to many factors. TheNJDOE is commending Becton Regional H.S. for implementing a “flexible and diversified class schedule, common lunch period, career-focused courses, and an internship and dual enrollment (college credit) program.” Our “Future Ready” commitment is also being recognized as we continue to implement digital learning upgrades focused on innovation across the curriculum. Furthermore, this recognition by the NJDOE is a testament to our hardworking teachers, staff members, educational leaders and students. I commend all of you!
March is Women’s History Month. It is important for everyone to recognize the achievements of women throughout history and how those achievements have influenced our daily lives.
I encourage everyone to purchase a ticket for the Project Graduation Fashion Show to be held on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at the Fiesta in Wood-Ridge, New Jersey. Come out and support our student models as they walk the runway in spring and summer fashions. It is always a lovely event.
In addition, there will be a half-day session on Thursday, March 29, 2018 and school will be closed on Good Friday, March 30, 2018 to begin the spring recess. School will reopen on
