November's Letter from Superintendent
Dear Parents/Guardians and Community Members:
Although it is still unseasonably warm, the Thanksgiving Holiday will be here before we know it. As your Superintendent, I am thankful for the opportunity not only to serve the communities of Carlstadt and East Rutherford, but also, to have been given the chance to make many of the positive academic changes, which have benefitted the students of this District. Since the beginning of the school year 2017-2018, the students of this District have seen the addition of Chromebooks for the entire student body. The chrome book initiative, which began in January 2017, has enhanced student learning. Teachers have been trained on the uses and benefits of Google Apps for Education and they are incorporating it into their daily lessons. Students can access and edit their work at any time of day from any location. This truly is a 21 st century digital learning experience for our students.
November is a month during which we honor our service men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in serving their country and those men and women who are currently serving so that we can enjoy the freedoms of our great country. If you see a service man or woman, please take a moment to say “Thank you” and let them know that you support them.
Our Becton Regional High School fall sports teams are having a great season! . The Football team has made it into the state play-offs. The bracket will be released on November 6, 2017. Check the Becton website, www.bectonhs.org , our twitter feed @bectonhs, or our new Athletic twitter account Wildcats@BectonAthletics for further details. The Boys and Girls Soccer Teams as well as the Volleyball Team made it into the first round of the State Tournament. Girls Soccer also were named NJIC Conference Champs 2017. The Cross Country Team won the Bronze medal in the NJIC Meadowlands Conference. Congratulations to all of our fall sports!
On Tuesday, November 14, 2017, the National Honor Society will hold its annual induction ceremony in the James Williams Performing Arts Center at 7:00 pm. The inductees have worked very hard to attain this great honor. Congratulations to all new inductees!
Friday, November 3, 2017, marks the closing of Marking Period I. If you have any question regarding your child’s grade(s), please feel free to email their teacher(s) or contact the Guidance Office for assistance. On November 9 and 10, Becton Regional High School will be closed due to the NJEA Convention. In addition, there will be a half-day session on November 22, 2017 and school will be closed on November 23-24, 2017 for the Thanksgiving Holiday recess.
