June's Letter from Superintendent


Dear Parents/Guardians and Community Members:

The school year is about to end, however, we still have exciting events leading up to graduation to mention.  First, I would like to thank Ms. Jessica O’Driscoll and the Junior Class for the beautiful prom held on May 31, 2018 at the Tides in North Haledon, New Jersey. All of the students had a wonderful time! In addition, on Wednesday, May 30th, two seniors, Jenna Christiano and Joseph Emerson, were honored at the NJIC Sportsmanship Luncheon at the Chart House Restaurant in Weehawken, New Jersey. Senior, Greg Anderson, will be participating at the State Meet of Champions in Track & Field. Good luck to Greg!

On Tuesday, June 5th, the Annual Valedictorian Breakfast will be held at the Fiesta in Wood-Ridge, New Jersey. Congratulations to our Valedictorian, Victoria Gatopoulos, for this outstanding achievement!  In the afternoon, we will have Becton Alumnus from the Class of ‘79, Manny Antimisiaris, speaking to our current students interested in the field of STEM, the military, or the field of aviation at 1:00 pm in the JWPAC.
Mr. Antimisiaris joined the United States Air Force after graduating from Becton where he piloted B-52 bombers and E-3 AWACS on more than 40 combat missions during Desert Storm. Since then, he has moved on to being a research pilot and navigator in the Flight Crew Branch at NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center in Edwards, California. We are very excited that he will be presenting to our students.

That same evening, at 7:00 pm, the Internship Recognition Ceremony will be held in the Media Center. We welcome all to attend this event so that you can hear from both the interns and their mentors about the wonderful work and career opportunities that they experienced this past year.

Friday, June 8th, we will hold the annual Senior Breakfast. Seniors will receive their yearbooks, cap and gowns, and for the first time seniors will receive honor cords to represent the various activities they have participated in throughout the last four years.  Becton will also be hosting the Annual Senior Awards Ceremony at 12:30 pm in the James Williams Performing Arts Center. Once again, I would like to recognize and thank the many donors who will be present at this ceremony. The scholarships would not be possible without their continuous support and generosity.

I would like to thank all of the Becton Regional High School parents/guardians and community members for their continued support this past school year.

Just a few reminders, final exams will be from June 12th through the 15th. Please make sure that if your child is taking an exam that they receive a good night’s sleep and a hearty breakfast before they come into school.  Graduation will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Riggin Field at 7:00 pm weather permitting. Please check the website for any last minute changes. In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held indoors in the high school gymnasium.
